Ganji, a National Hero

Ganji, a National Hero

Ganji is entering the thirty-third day of his hunger strike. His body has burned through its fat and is now burning its proteins; all the sensitive tissues of his body are being damaged. His gums are receding, and his eyes, his heart and his other sensitive tissues are being harmed. The electrolytes in his body, such as potassium, magnesium and sodium, have now become imbalanced, and he is wrestling with death. He suffers from shortness of breath, and the risk of stroke is rising. Responsibility for his life lies first and foremost with the Leader, that is, Mr. Khamenei, who has imprisoned him, and after him with all the officials of the Islamic Republic who stand by and watch. Ganji is our national hero. He is a man who, in defense of the freedom and dignity of the Iranian nation, has taken his life in his hands and is drinking death sip by sip. O God, help him. O God, I, Your humblest servant, will from tonight perform two rak'ats (cycles of ritual prayer) for him, light a candle behind the window, and pray for his well-being. Bring about for him whatever You deem best.

O God, grant us success in doing what You love and what pleases You.
